What is Mass Cash?

Mass Cash is a Massachusetts-based five-number draw game with a number pool from 1 to 35 and a top prize of $100,000. Launched by the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission in March 1991, the game has maintained its 5/35 format and prize sums since inception, making it a familiar staple of the Bay State lottery.

Mass Cash doesn’t offer big jackpots like Powerball, Mega Millions and Millionaire for Life, but it does have some of the best odds out of any draw game in the state, with the overall chances of winning any prize as favorable as 1 in 72. The chances of winning the $100,000 jackpot are 1 in 324,632, a stark difference from Powerball’s 1 in 292,201,338.

Here is some basic information about the game:

  • Ticket Cost: $1 per play.
  • The Matrix: Players choose 5 numbers from 1 to 35 (or choose a random "Quic Pic").
  • Draw Schedule: Drawings take place twice daily at 2:00 PM ET (Midday) and 9:00 PM ET (Evening).

History

For its first two decades of existence, draws took place only three times a week. In 2011, it became a daily evening game. In 2025, a 2:00 PM midday drawing was added to the game. This doubled the number of draws, so numbers now build up appearances twice as fast.
